Sam Houston Race Park in Houston

Are you fan of horse racing or at least interested in watching a race, someday? Well, if you’re in Houston, you should watch a few races at the Sam Houston Race Park. Horse racing season tends to take place between December to early June, and with how many races there are each year, you have plenty of opportunities to catch one of them.

I went to my first horse race at the race park back in 2015, and attended a more recent one this past April, during their Kentucky Derby Weekend. What’s exciting is that, besides horse racing, they also provide other events like ostrich and camel races, as well as wiener dog races. Plus, if you have children, there are events tailored for them as well! Some of those events include pony rides.

When attending, I prefer purchasing a ticket to their Winner’s Circle Experience. With that package, not only are you seated indoors with air conditioning (a must during the hot Houston weather), but your table is also positioned near the finish line and you have access to their food buffet; it’s pretty good, especially for the price.

For their next season, I’m sure I’ll attend even more events.
