BCN in Houston
BCN Taste & Tradition, one of the six Michelin-starred restaurants in Houston, was an extraordinary experience. I visited the Spanish-inspired restaurant in March to throw a celebration for my mom’s birthday, with my brother. The staff ensured that it was a special night for her, especially our host, Alfredo.
To start, the staff brought out three spoons of their house ceviche. Next, we selected two appetizers for the table. We had the Spanish Octopus served with Potato Purée, olive oil and smoked paprika; it was incredible, to say the least. And, the Spanish Ibérico Ham Croquettes. I felt the croquettes were good, but easily my least favorite dish of the evening.
For our entrees, I had the Grilled Lamb Chops with Potato, Eggplant, Red Bell Pepper, Onion, and Confit Tomato, served with Garlic Alioli. I was highly impressed by the dish’s flavor and tenderness. I highly recommend you trying it. This was my personal favorite dish.
My brother had the Bomba Rice Cooked in Cuttlefish’s Black Ink, Grilled Branzino, Langoustine, and Octopus; he praised the dish.
Finally, my mom had the Sous Vide Rabbit Loin, Aromatic Herbs, Porcini Rice with Sautéed Artichokes and Plum, Vermouth and Caramelized Onion Sauce, with Apricot Purée. She enjoyed it, and I had a chance to try the rabbit loin as well. It was great.
All and all, we were impressed by BCN. The quaintness of the restaurant being in a former home in the middle of a neighborhood, the service, and food all helped to create an extraordinary experience for my mom on her special day; we will be back. I recommend you checking BCN out, too.
