Nick’s Kitchen and Beach Bar in Galveston
Nick’s Kitchen and Beach Bar in Galveston was absolutely amazing. This month, I tried them for the first time.
I started the meal with a half dozen oysters, and then had their Texas Redfish Pontchartrain, which was a blackened redfish topped with 4 grilled shrimp, sautéed mushrooms, scallions, mild green peppers, and asiago cream sauce. Served with creole rice and grilled vegetables.
The redfish and grilled shrimp were my favorite aspects of the dish. They nailed the seasoning!
For the drinks, I started with a mojito, and ended up getting one of their large house margaritas as well. Both of the drinks were great.
All and all, I was pleased by the food, the drinks, and loved the restaurant’s vicinity to the seawall and beach. If I were to have one minor complaint, I felt that the service wasn’t as attentive as it could have been. That being said, when the staff did visit the table, they were cordial.
I’m looking forward to visiting the restaurant again, someday.
June 2024 Update:
I made another trip to Nick’s Kitchen and Beach Bar in Galveston. This time, I had their Chilled Blue Crab Claws to start off with, then had their Blackened Mahi Mahi Castilla as my entrée. I was pleased with both, however I preferred the Texas Redfish Pontchartrain from my first visit there more.
